The pool was the reason we booked — and it exceeded every photo. Heated, huge, and completely private behind the walls. The kids swam until midnight every night.

A Marbella Holiday Is a Pool Holiday
Why Private Pools Matter in Marbella

A Marbella Holiday Is a Pool Holiday

In Marbella, the private pool is not a luxury add-on — it is the center of the holiday. Families swim before breakfast, groups float through the afternoon heat, and the evening begins with a sundowner on the water. A villa without a proper pool is a villa that misses the point.Every property in our Marbella collection has a private pool. But not all private pools are equal. Some are small plunge pools suited to couples. Others — like the twelve-meter heated pool at Villa del Mar — are the size of a hotel pool, screened by mature gardens, and heated to 28°C so they stay swimmable well into October and from April onwards. We screen for depth (child-safe), heating (year-round), and privacy (no overlooked terraces) before any villa joins this list. For groups traveling outside peak summer, a heated pool transforms the shoulder season. Marbella in May, June, September, and October is arguably the best time to visit — fewer crowds, softer light, restaurants that still have space — and a heated pool means the water is warm enough for the children from the moment you arrive. A pool you can swim in for eight months of the year is a very different thing from a pool you can look at.

Everything to Know About Private Pools in Marbella

The questions guests ask most about heating, safety, and pool privacy before booking.

Are the pools heated year-round? +
Most villas in our Marbella collection have heated pools, but heating specifications vary. Villa del Mar and Villa Paris have heat pumps that maintain 26-28°C in winter. Others use solar heating which is effective from April to October. Every listing specifies heating type — confirm before booking if year-round swimming is essential.
Which Marbella neighborhoods have the best pool villas? +
Nueva Andalucia and Sierra Blanca have the highest concentration of large private-pool villas on generous plots. La Zagaleta is the most exclusive — Villa Celestial (11 bedrooms) has a 20-meter pool. For beach proximity with pool privacy, the Golden Mile and Marbella East stretches are best.
Are the pools safe for young children? +
Most villas have gated pool areas or shallow-entry steps for children. A few offer removable safety fencing on request (confirm at booking). None of our villas have pool lifeguards — families with non-swimming children should arrange a nanny or pool watcher, or choose villas with shallow toddler pools.
Can we swim in the pool in winter? +
With a heated pool, yes. Marbella winters average 17-19°C air temperature, and heated pools stay swimmable at 26°C+. Without heating, winter pools sit at 14-16°C — fine for a cold plunge, not for family swimming. We label heating status on every villa page.
Do any villas have indoor pools? +
Not currently in the Marbella collection. All pools are outdoor. For year-round indoor pool villas, consider our Tuscany or Verbier collections (some Verbier chalets have indoor wellness pools).
What time of year is best for pool weather in Marbella? +
May, June, September, and October are the sweet spot — air temperatures 22-28°C, pools at comfortable 24-26°C, fewer crowds, and shoulder-season rates on villas. July and August are hottest (30-35°C) and busiest. If booking peak summer, choose a villa with shaded terraces and afternoon shade for the pool deck.
